Randy was my assistant a Burroughs Welcome during the 1970's and early 80"s. He and I published manuscripts together. He was always an eager scientist. Even more importantly, his personality made everyone feel included and contributing. I remember all the times we tried to get our "brand new" HPLC's working and our acquisition of our "powerful" locally manufactured 4K computer. I it's sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.
