Obituary of David L. Wells

David "Bo" Wells, 91, of Cedar Grove, NC, passed away on ¬¬Sunday, July 22, 2013. Bo was the son of the late Lewis and Martha Wells. He graduated from Aycock High School and attended Wake Forest College (University) on a basketball and baseball scholarship. He served as a corporal in the US Air Corps from 1942-45 as a navigator flying in B-17 aircraft. His love of nature and the outdoors destined him to choose farming as his career. Bo was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and was a founding father and an original charter member of the Cedar Grove Ruritan Club. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed golfing with his many friends. He was devoted to his family, friends, and community. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Miriam Pope Wells, son Tim and wife, Sharon, of Matthews, NC, daughters Jo Anne Wells of Cedar Grove, NC, Janet Reaume and husband, Jack, of Durham, NC, and only grandchild Mark Wells and wife, Erin, of Asheville, NC. He also is survived by his sister, Ruth Peterman of Bloomfield, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog, Rocket. The family sincerely appreciates and wishes to thank the many relatives and friends who have so thoughtfully and generously given of their time to visit and offer assistance to the family. We would also like to thank the medical personnel at Prospect Hill Community Health Center, Regional Cancer Care, and Duke Hospice. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Cedar Grove, NC. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00.
