Dear Whitney,
As you probably know, your mom, Nancy, was my first ever roommate when we were assigned a room in the co-op at 69 Brattle Street in Cambridge for our graduate "year" with the Harvard-Radcliffe Program in Business Administration in September 1956. It was my most wonderful academic year, largely due to her generous and happy personality. Her birthday present to me was a set of Bach organ pieces on vinyl records although she was not a fan of either the composer or the instrument! Such a sacrifice!
We corresponded every Christmas time, exchanging pictures of you and ,although I did not meet your Dad in person, I felt I was acquainted with him also all these years. I appreciate his sending me the sad news last year of her passing. Now it is a deep shared loss for us both. My thoughts are with you and yours....jan patton gardiner.
