Mama, Cindy and I are praying for you and the family during this time. Cindy and I went to high school with Donnie. So many things in this life can not be explained, nor understood. Only later we shall understand and we shall see our loved ones again one fine day. We are so sorry, but we know that God is with you all. Donnie was always a good, honest, kind, and caring man. I remember him being well liked when we were in school together, and that was certainly true in his adult life. We shared a common love and passion for horses and when he would see me he would always start the conversation with a smile and a question, "How's the Horse Business", as if that was a cue for us to start talking "Horses". Those conversations will be greatly missed. It was only a couple of weeks ago that we had one of those conversations at the Hurdle Mills Grill over lunch. What a shock to hear of his untimely death. Donnie meant a lot of things to a lot of people, but the thing that I most admired about him was the way that he genuinely cared for people. The tremendous outpouring of love from the community, friends, and family is a true testimony to the way that he led his life. His life has made me realize how important caring and loving is and has inspired me to try and be more like him.

Donnie was a great friend he will really be missed. He always had that smile that could make you feel good about your day. And he was a genuine person that didn't mind going that extra mile to try to help you. My heart is surely saddened because you don't meet many people like Donnie. God whispered Donnies name and asked him for a little help and Donnie being the person he is went to help a friend out. I pray that I have touched a 1/3 of the lives he has. I'm definitely a better person for knowing Donnie. Get some well deserved rest. Until we meet again.

I really never knew Donnie on a personal level, but on a business level. Every time I would ever see him at the salvage yard, and asked a question he would always be glad to help you out with a caring smile. Donnie has always been a great friend and would go out of his way to help you. He had a smile that would light up your day and a way to put you at ease when you were talking to him. We have all lost a great friend. God whispered Donnies name and asked him for a little help and being the person Donnie is he couldn't refuse him. He may be gone here on earth but he will always be in our hearts. I pray that when I'm called I'll be missed half as much. Darlene, Donna, Phillip, Lamar and family. I'm definitely a better person for knowing Donnie.

Darlene, Donna, Mrs. Chapman, Lamar, Sherry and all of the rest of the Chapman family,

Donnie's sudden death has left a void for me, a fellow high school classmate. I will miss him..even though it has been years since I have seen him. I remember his kindness in school - a trait that he certainly had his entire life. I am so very sorry for your loss of a great man. I hadn't seen Donnie for a while and it has been a fews months back I seen him and his family at Shoney's in Hillsville, VA. He still had that big smile on his face. They were getting ready to go 4 wheelin. I meet Donnie many years ago at Sadisco Greensboro. Never did he come in without a smile on his face.
