Obituary of Donnie Harold Chapman

Orange County Donnie Harold Chapman July 10, 1953 - April 6, 2013 In the afternoon hours of April, 6 2013, the loving hand of God reached down and took one of his very special angels home. Donnie Harold Chapman joined many family and friends in heaven. He began his life in Gaston County NC, later moving to the Hillsborough area. From an early age he learned hard work and strong family values, which he taught to those around him. Some called him son, daddy, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, and best friend, but no matter the name used it was always with the deepest and most sincere love and kindness. His hands told stories of hardship, tears, hard work and the most tender love and care. He created an amazing business that has served the community for nearly forty years. Horses and kids were dear to his heart and most pretty weekends you could find him on the trails loving life and enjoying time with those around him. The number of people he touched is too great to name, but we know he carries a little of each of us in his heart. He will be missed greatly by his wife Darlene, mother Gladys Chapman, daughter Donna Chapman (Philip Ezell), step-daughter Nicki Tant (Rodney), grandchildren Daniel Chapman, Bailey Briley, Corey Cates, Nicholas Tant, Alexis and PJ Ezell, Calab and Jacob Tant, sisters Michelle McCormick (Jim), Sherry Combs (Mike), Lamar Chapman (Amanda), best friends Mike Griffin, Alan Hansen, many nieces and nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Union Grove United Methodist Church, 6407 Union Grove Church Road, Hillsborough, NC with Pastor Richard Greenway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Union Grove United Methodist Church from 6:00pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough.
