Obituary of Thomas Alexander Young

Thomas Alexander Young passed away after a long  illness at his Spring Glen Retirement Community on June 5, 2022 at the age of 61.  Thomas was born on October 4, 1961 in Beacon, New York.  His mother is Katherine Curtin Young of Hillsborough, N.C. and his father is Robert Young of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thomas leaves behind his beloved brother, Timothy R. Young .  Timothy's love, dedication, and care giving throughout his life was remarkable and inspires us.

Thomas also leaves behind his Uncle Daniel F. Curtin and his family in Rancho Santa Fe, California, his niece, Alison Young Matthews and her family in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and his nephew, Brian Young and his family in Charlotte, N.C.

Although seriously disabled from birth Thomas's dedication, faith, and focus enabled him to use a computer, attend both Durham and Chapel Hill schools, as well as Durham Tech.  and has been employed at Residential Services in Chapel Hill.  He was also active in fund raising for an interfaith chapel at Murdoch Center in Butner, N.C.

We are grateful and blessed to have had Thomas in our lives.  We are better for knowing him and joining him on his exceptional life journey.

Our deepest thanks for the outstanding care and support he received from the staff at both Spring Glen and RSI.

A celebration of life mass will be held on June 21 at 10am at Saint Thomas Moore Church in Chapel Hill.

In lieu of flowers donations in Thomas' name can be made to Residential Services, Chapel Hill, N.C.111 Providence Road, Chapel Hill, N.C.
