David, Eileen, Kevin, Jim, Michael, Brian & Anne,
Your Mother was a great woman. I never knew she was awarded the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. She was a devout Catholic & very humble, so I am not surprised that she received such a prestigious honor. I loved working with her in the Physics & Astronomy Dept. in the 70's & 80's, she taught me so much! She was a great cook & often brought food to share with everyone at work. She would type the recipe & give it to anyone who requested a copy.
I sent her a special card on Mother's Day each year as I considered her my 2nd Mother & told her so whenever I spoke with her on the phone. It was always good to talk with her & catch up on latest the news concerning all of you, her Grandchildren, her Great Grandchildren plus the local news in Chapel Hill. I mourn her loss along with all of you & your families, but also celebrate her Legacy of Love that she leaves behind.
Prayers for peace in all of our broken hearts in the days ahead... She will Forever have a special place in my heart. I look forward to seeing her in Heaven one day.
In Christian Love,
Linda Spivey Phelps
